T-Mobile Karaoke Commercial Premiers Saturday @ 9pm On ITV1
Get set to sing this Saturday, as T-Mobile premiers the next in its series of earth shatteringly awesome commercials at 9pm during the ad break on ITV1's Britain's Got Talent. (Sat May 2nd, 2009)
As if Scottish songstress Susan Boyle hadn't already got the nation inspired to sing. T-Mobile comes up with this 'kick arse' karaoke commercial - called T-Mobile 'Sing' - which will have us all jumping out of our seats to belt out a tune.
Singing right along with us will be rock star Pink - about to embark on a world tour - who made a sensational surprise appearance during today's filming. Sending the est. 13,000 people who crammed Trafalgar Square absolutely wild. She sung her hit song 'What.' CheckOut these great pix in The Mirror
For London's actors, it all began with a cryptic casting call from casting director Tree Petts, asking for 400+ actors and extras who could sing karaoke.
And ended today (Thur April 30th 2009) in one of the biggest and most exciting commercials to ever be filmed in London. An event in itself. Hundreds of actors and crew and est 24+ cameras.
And all for what has this year become one of the most talked about mobile phone operators. And all thanks to the ground breaking large cast commercials filmed by Partizan, directed by Michael Gracey, creative by Saatchi.
Today's follows on from T-Mobile 'Dance,' which saw the power of communication take over commuters (350+ dancers) at London's Liverpool Street Station, as they broke into spontaneous dance.
During today's recording, talent was seeded in the crowd playing the role of compares. Encouraging the crowd to sing along to hits such as The Beatles' Hey Jude and Britney Spears's Hit Me Baby One More Time. Mikes were also handed out to passers by encouraging them to take part.
Lead compère was presenter Vernon Kay. Who lead the constantly expanding crowd as it belted out versions of the Grease hit Summer Nights, Total Eclipse of the Heart, and I Say a Little Prayer.
The actors taking part in the ad had committed the words to memory. But to help members of the public take part, large screens had been put up around Trafalgar Square displaying the words. Along with shots of the excited crowd.
Pink joined in halfway through a high energy rendition of the Erma Franklin hit Piece of my Heart. Popping up on a raised platform. Shocking everyone in the square.
She told The Telegraph: " "What a fantastic experience.
"Everyone singing along together in the middle of London – it was incredible. I was thrilled to be a part of such an amazing event and to share it with so many people."
RapidTalent's Jason Nicholls told Industry Buzz: "Wow. What a day. People will be talking about this commercial for years.
"You have to hand it to Partizan. They're having one hell of a year. They started with the 80s inspired Love At First Flight for Virgin Atlantic. Quickly followed by T-Mobile Dance. And now this.
"You have to wonder if they'll be able to better this. But we know they will."
